Ferret Hamster
FERRET or a HAMSTER?
I know I have been deciding on many other animals , but it wuz for fun. But now I am really wanting a ferret or a hamster. Ferrets are soooo adorable, and hamsters are sooo small.If I get a hamster should I gat a male, or a female? If I get a ferrret, should I get a male or female?why??? Do you know any good names? THNKS YOUR HELP IS REALLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ferrets and hamsters are completely two different sides of the spectrum. First think about how much time you are willing to spend with the animal. Ferrets need lots of interaction and can get depressed when just expected to sit in a cage all day. Hamsters get along fine with or without you but benefit from daily handling. Ferrets are a big BIG decision. They require hours of daily interaction (out of the cage time), they require someone with lots of patience who can deal with the bad habits they tend to have (digging in carpet, cage chewing, and stealing). They also are a bigger commitment since they live much longer than hamsters. They require vaccinations, yearly vet visits and can get some pretty heartbreaking diseases. Many say they stink but committed Ferret Owners know that this can be fixed with daily litterbox cleaning, and washing hammocks and beddings frequently. Also I noticed some people say ferrets bite…but I have been bitten more by hamsters (and hamster hurt more).
If you get a hamster..males tend to be slightly more laid back which means easier to learn to handle where as females have more energy. Ferrets on the other hand don’t really seem to have noticable differences in sex but rather each ferret regardless of sex has differing personalities..sometimes you never know what you can get (laidback, supper active, quirky)
Ferrets also cost much more (of course) so sit down and think long and hard about the commitments youre willing to put forward during the lifetime of each animal and good luck
